Mandate The Permanent Committee on Labor, Welfare and Health occasionally deals with topics related to HIV/AIDS. On average, since 1999 the Committee has dealt with the subject once or twice a year, in addition to some aspects of the issue being deliberated on World AIDS Day on 1 December every year.
Membership The Committee has 15 permanent members from the various parliamentary groups.
Working methods The Committee deals with the subject of HIV/AIDS on World Aids Day, and whenever a topic is raised in the form of a Motion for the Agenda or a mention in a Bill that is referred to the Labor, Welfare and Health Committee.
Relations with other parliamentary bodies Same as any other Permanent Committee in the Knesset.
Relations with external bodies Same as any other Permanent Committee in the Knesset.
Subjects dealt with Among the specific topics that have been dealt with in the Labor, Welfare and Health Committee: the refusal of dentists to treat persons with AIDS; the construction of more hospices for persons with AIDS; the absence of drugs to treat AIDS in emergency wards.
